Quartier des Poulety is a wonderfully restored sandstone house nestled in a hamlet at the foot of the hill on which Gordes is built. Gordes has been voted as one of the four most beautiful villages in Provence. The original name of the house implies it might be a chicken shed hundreds of years ago.

With only a 15-minute walk up to the magnificent village of Gordes perched atop the hill, this property in Le Touron is perfectly situated to enjoy the peace and calm of the Luberon yet accessible to many restaurants, cafes as well as a post office, a mini mart, a pharmacy and two bakeries in magical Gordes.

Quartier des Poulety enjoys a small secluded garden with an old fountain, large cypress trees and an ancient olive tree. Idyllic afternoons could be spent on the swing under the shady mulberry tree and comfy deck chairs.

The conservatory provides a sunny location for dining and is adjacent to the well equipped kitchen and living room. The kitchen boasts an electric oven and hob, dish washer, toaster, coffee maker and plentiful cutlery and crockery. Furnished with antiques from India’s British colonial era, the bright and cosy living room offers glimpse of the Luberon valley and a working fireplace. There are also many DVDs and games for stay-in evenings.

On the first floor you will find the master bedroom with newly renovated en-suite shower and a study with a Juliet balcony overlooking the garden. Wake up to the sound of Church of Gordes bells from a kingsize four-poster bed -- a great way to start your day.

The second bedroom (with a kingsize wrought iron bed), a shower room and a separate toilet are located on the lower ground floor, accessed from a spiral staircase in the kitchen. There is also a small garage if you hire a compact car otherwise street parking is no problem.

At the moment the house is ideally set up for one couple using the master bedroom upstairs. The downstairs bedroom is cozy, comfortable and tastefully decorated and, while adequate, the downstairs shower room is basic but clean.

Quartier des Poulety has been furnished to an extremely high standard and comes well equipped with linens and towels. The house has no swimming pool, perfect for those who don’t swim.
